Forced regeneration is a stationary process using OEM diagnostic software to raise exhaust temperatures to 650°C for 20–40 minutes, burning the soot in the DPF to ash. It is safe when done correctly — GarageNation performs this procedure outdoors with the car on an elevated surface to allow hot exhaust gas to dissipate. Why does my DPF warning light keep coming back after clearing?
If the DPF soot load is cleared via code deletion only (without actual regeneration), the soot is still physically present and the ECU re-detects it within 100–200 km. Forced regeneration burns the soot — the code does not return until the DPF loads again.
