What exactly does P0401 mean?
P0401 means the ECU measured less EGR gas flow than it commanded. The ECU expects a specific intake MAP pressure drop when it opens the EGR valve — if the drop doesn't happen (because the valve is stuck, the cooler is blocked, or the DPFE sensor is faulty), it sets P0401.
