Paintless Dent Repair (PDR)
For small dents without paint damage (hail dents, minor door dings). A specialist tool is inserted behind the panel to gradually push the dent back from behind, restoring the original contour without any filler or repainting. Cost: ₹800–₹3,000 per dent. Fastest option — done in hours. Not possible for: creased metal, stretched metal, dents near panel edges, or dents with paint damage.

Traditional denting + painting
For dents with paint damage, creases, or deep damage. Involves:

1. Removing the panel or working in-situ to pull/push the dent out mechanically
2. Applying polyester body filler (putty) to smooth the area
3. Sanding through multiple grits to achieve a flat surface
4. Primer application
5. Colour coat application (basecoat)
6. Clear coat lacquer application
7. Polishing to blend with adjacent panels

Colour matching is the single biggest quality differentiator in denting and painting. Challenges in India:

• Original paint fades in Hyderabad's UV — a new paint match that is perfect in the can looks slightly different against 3-year-old faded paint
• Metallic and pearl paints require exact metallic particle size and orientation — cheap shops use generic metallic without matching the specific OEM formulation
• The paint code (printed on a sticker inside the door jamb or engine bay) identifies the exact OEM colour formula — always provide this to your workshop

GarageNation uses computerised colour mixing with a spectrophotometer that scans the existing paint to measure exact colour, fade compensation, and metallic orientation — producing matches that are invisible to eye under natural light.

Insurance claims: GarageNation is registered with most major Indian insurers (Bajaj Allianz, New India, HDFC ERGO, IFFCO Tokio) and processes cashless denting and painting claims directly.

How long does denting and painting take?

A single panel dent repair with repainting takes 2–3 days at GarageNation — 1 day for dent repair and primer, 1 day for colour and clear coat, and time for paint to cure before polishing. Rush jobs are available for minor repairs but cannot be done for large panels without quality compromise.

Can a small dent be repaired without repainting?

Yes — if the paint is undamaged, paintless dent repair (PDR) can restore the panel without any repainting. This is ideal for parking lot door dings and small hail dents. Cost: ₹800–₹2,500. If the paint is cracked, scratched, or chipped, traditional denting and repainting is required.

Will the paint match my original colour?

GarageNation uses a spectrophotometer to scan and match your existing (faded) paint, not just the OEM paint code. This accounts for UV fading and produces a match that is invisible in natural light. Cheap roadside shops mix paint by code only — this produces a visible mismatch on faded cars.

Should I claim insurance or pay out of pocket for a small dent?

For minor dents under ₹5,000: paying out of pocket avoids an insurance claim that raises your premium at the next renewal. For damage above ₹8,000–₹10,000: an insurance claim usually makes financial sense.
